Letter to Parents - November 28th 2024

28th November 2024

Dear Parents

I am writing as we approach December and Advent to provide you with information for the end of term.

You will be very aware that this will be a very busy end to the term with a wide range of activities taking place across both schools and I would like to thank all of you in our community for supporting with our many fundraising and charity events. We are aiming to do all we can for our chosen charities in the lead up to Christmas.

I hope that the information is useful to all of you.

WHOLE SCHOOL CAROL SERVICE:

We are all excited to invite you all to the whole school carol service, which will involve pupils from both schools.  This will be held on Monday, 16th December 2024 at 5pm at the Secondary School.   All Primary pupils are invited and will be performing alongside secondary pupils to celebrate the festive season with carols and moments of reflection.   The school is now the biggest it has been and the organisation of such an event is huge, I hope that parents from both schools are able to attend.

CHRISTMAS CHARITIES – REVERSE ADVENT:

We will be working this year to support those that are in need this Christmas particularly the elderly and young parents in need of support.  We will be supporting:

  • Mama to Mama (Local baby bank)
  • Care homes in the area

We will be collecting in our reverse advent any items that are suited to these age groups and may include – baby products and treats for the elderly.  Please work with us to support these organisations and donate any items of this nature to the school.

CHRISTMAS JUMPER DAY - SAVE THE CHILDREN CHARITY:

This will be on Thursday, 12th December 2024 across the school and will be a non-uniform day to raise money for Save the Children. It would be great to see a wide range of different Christmas jumpers. Please send your child in with their donation on the day or pay via Parent Pay.  £1 is the suggested amount but during these difficult times any amount towards the charity is appreciated.

LAST DAY ARRANGEMENTS:

The last day at both schools is Friday, 20th December 2024 when secondary pupils will be finishing between 11.50am and 12.00pm on a staggered finish and Primary at 12.10pm.  There will be no buses at these times for secondary pupils and therefore we would advise that arrangements need to be made for children to get home.   This will be a non-school uniform day to raise money for the bereavement charity “Holding on, Letting Go.”.

FIRST DAY BACK AFTER CHRISTMAS BREAK:

The first day back in school for all pupils at Primary and Secondary is Monday, 6th January 2024, which will be a normal day for all pupils.

FREE SCHOOL MEALS

If your child is in receipt of free school meals, the Government have confirmed supermarket vouchers will continue to be issued to parents during the Christmas period. These will be issued as they have in the past via email through the Wonde Evouchers online system, please check your emails during the last week of term.

FINAL THOUGHTS:
I would like to take the opportunity to thank all of you for your continued support as we enter the season of Advent.  I hope that the next three weeks of activities will fill you with Christmas spirit and joy as you join us all at various events.

God Bless You All
