Qualification Certificates

Qualification certificates are issued to the school by the awarding bodies after results have been published. Certificates for Summer leavers will not arrive in school until November the same year, and the earliest opportunity to collect them will be during the Certificate Collection Evenings in December.

Please note that Further Education establishments do not normally require your original qualification certificates for registration onto courses. Your Statement of Results and UCAS information should be sufficient to confirm your qualifications while you are awaiting your certificates.

The school is legally required to retain uncollected certificates for 12 months. If you are unable to collect your certificates during the December collection evenings, you will need to arrange an alternative collection by appointment. Please ensure that you collect your certificates within this 12-month period.

Certificates for qualifications achieved during Years 9, 10 and 12 are retained by the school and will be made available for collection when you become a leaver. This means that students do not need to arrange separate collection of certificates for qualifications achieved during these years.

Summer 2026 Leavers

GCSE, A Level, BTEC and other qualification certificates

Certificates will be available for collection across 3 Collection Evenings in December from the Drama Hall. Please note that you will not be permitted access to the rest of the school.

Year 13 - Thursday 3rd December 2026 - 3:30pm -4:30pm

Year 11 -Thursday 10th December 2026 - 3:30pm -4:30pm

Year 11 and Year 13 -Thursday 17th December 2026 - 3:30pm -5:00pm

If you wish for someone other than yourself to collect the certificates, please contact the Exams Office and nominate someone to collect on your behalf. Please ensure that the nominated person is aware of the collection dates and brings their own Photo ID.

If you are unable to collect your certificates on the dates listed above you can arrange to collect your certificates by contacting the Exams Office to arrange a date and approx time. Please note that this will not be available before Monday 14th December.

As per the JCQ regulations, the school is only legally obliged to hold your certificates for 12 months from certification. This means that after July 2027 your certificates will be scheduled for destruction. These are expensive documents to replace and we highly suggest that these are collected at the earliest possible moment. 

How Long Will the School Hold My Certificates?

The school is legally required to retain uncollected qualification certificates for 12 months from the date they are received.

Any certificates that have not been collected after the 12-month retention period has elapsed will be scheduled for destruction.

Although Further Education establishments should not normally require your original certificates for registration onto courses, it is important that you retain your certificates for future use. Employers may require evidence of your qualifications, particularly when applying for employment or further training later in life.

If your certificates have been destroyed by the school, you will need to contact the relevant awarding bodies directly to request replacement certificates. Replacement certificates can be expensive, and the school cannot replace certificates once they have been destroyed.

For this reason, we strongly recommend that you collect your certificates within the 12-month retention period and keep them somewhere safe.

Think you have lost your certificates and need replacements?

If you have already collected your certificates and have lost them you can contact the exam boards and they may be able to replace them for you at a cost. This depends on how long it is since you have sat the exam, however please check their websites for full information.

In some cases, exam boards have changed their names and merged so the govenment has issued information to help you check which board to contact for a replacement certificate or certified statement of results if your old board no longer exists.

Art Work Collection

For pupils who left in Summer 2026, your Artwork will be ready to collect at the same time you collect your certificates.  

We strongly suggest that you collect your artwork and certificates together to prevent any confusion. Whilst we do have storage available for the art work, it is limited and we can not garuntee that art work will not get damaged. 

Pupils who left prior to Summer 2026, please contact the school to arrange a date to collect your work via email.
