01/07/2024Year 6 Transition
It has been good to meet and speak to many parents during our Transition Taster sessions, and for the new Year 7 team to have met almost every pupil during their Primary School Visits.
Your child will need to bring:
• A reading book
• A pen
• A pencil
• A rubber
• A ruler
• A packed lunch or £2.50 for a school grab bag (sandwich, fruit, biscuit and drink)
We request that your child arrives no later than 8.50 am to allow a prompt start to the day, which begins at 9.00am. Your child will be welcomed into the school building by our staff, and will then be escorted to the Drama Room. You are welcome to walk your child onto the school site, but you will not be allowed to enter the building with your child. We would encourage you to say goodbye outside the school gates so that staff can then facilitate the building of friendships during this Transition Phase.
Activities will finish at 2.45 pm; your child will be dismissed by the Student Community Entrance. We ask that you ensure arrangements are in place for their safe return home. Please do not enter the school site prior to 2.45 pm to allow year 7 to 11 to leave safely. During the Transition Day you are welcome to wait for your child on the paved area within school grounds, however, from September you will need to wait outside the school gates.
I’d like to draw your attention to some useful links on our website which may answer any queries you may have.
- I would draw your attention to the Transition pages which are being updated regularly : https://www.stgeorges-school.org.uk/290/transition This includes a digital version of the New Intake booklet that you were sent along with the acceptance forms : https://stgeorges-school.s3.amazonaws.com/uploads/document/NI-Booklet-September-2024.pdf?t=1718789470
This booklet includes uniform and equipment information.
A reminder that your child should be wearing their current school uniform on Transition Day, Thursday 4th July, along with a packed lunch (or £2.50 for school grab bag), a pen, pencil, rubber, rule and reading book.
Your child will be informed which House they have been allocated on this day, to allow you to purchase the House associated items from the Schoolwear Centre (56 Addington St, Cliftonville, Margate CT9 1QS)
- If you have note used ParentPay before, the presentation from Mrs Abrahams in Finance can be found here :
I look forward to seeing your child on Transition Day. Our Transition Pages also include a lot of information.
