Careers - Parents & Employers

ALL year 11s and 12s are seen by our independent careers advisors, who offer unbiased advice.  This is completed before any application deadlines. Pupils or parents can also self-refer. Year 9 pupils are targeted before their options choices after completing pupil surveys or being referred by the SEND or Year Teams.

There are also a number of useful resources on our website that will help you to talk with your child about their Careers aspirations.  Each Careers page has useful links to help inform pupils as they start to think about their future paths.

All pupils have access to UNIFROG, a really useful Careers Platform.

Parent Advisor has some advice which you may find useful.  At the bottom of the page you will find some useful documents, including the UCAS Parent Guide.  You may find it helpful to sit down with your child and check out one of the websites such as National Careers or Career Box

Also try the CXK Resource hub which can either be found via: https://view.publitas.com/youth-employability-service/cxk-careers-home/  or via the QR code.

This complies with the legal obligations under Section 42B of the Education act 1997 (the ‘Baker Clause’).

In 2022/23 we have had frequent visitors to the school to take assemblies or visit lessons. This includes a number of alumni.  We have had visits from Higher Education institutions such as Univeristies of Kent and Greenwich, Independent Training Providers such as Liberty Training, as well as employers and employees. We are keen for our pupils to hear about people's career journeys, whether they were conventional or not.

Some students who did their exams in 2022 are doing the following:

Accounting at University of Sussex, Maths at Portsmouth University, Art and Design at UCA, Physics at University of York, Psychology and Criminology at De Montfort University, Business at University of Kent, Public Health at Christ Church, Biomedical Science at University of Kent, Geography at Portsmouth University, Modern Languages at Queen Mary, London… and many more universities and courses!

Beyond University, one student is a Weapon Support Technician in the RAF, another in the Royal Marines Band, another on a Carpentry apprenticeship, and another on a construction apprenticeship.
